A New Moon
The bell tolls for the end of Spooktober. Our entry made it in without any major issue. With that chapter closing, I'm left to ponder my future plan.
This is my 8th jam this year, 9th including MVNA, and there's this competition I participated early this year, if that would count. My 5th VN release of the year. So somehow I still average a jam a month? But I really do feel I have to get a grip on myself because I'm working on another project with my circle and we all also happen to work on this big game for a studio for the rest of the year. I guess I get why some people don't take my comment about being burnt out seriously, but a job work and a hobby work are...just different?
I actually feel like doing something small solo for Winter Jam though, preferably with Light.vn because I haven't gotten the chance to use it all year. Maaaaaaaaybe using traditional art, given that's what I'm currently into. That would require finishing every other projects on time. Otherwise, I really should carve out some time off Ren'py in 2026. Light.vn is a really nice tool to work with! And I haven't gotten my hands on Decker!
And I really really miss tutoring.
Just putting these out there, if you want to make something, go do it! I'll be happy if even one person feels moved to do so.
"So You Want to Make Visual Novels" Essentials:
If you like Youtube, go watch Vimi with best practices gleaned from VNConf. If you specifically want to go with Ren'py, Meinos Kaen has a playlist with new version of Ren'py (the internet is full of outdated tutorials). If you like text and plan to use Ren'py, Feniks is your go-to. If you want anything else, including discussions about many VN aspects and a cool community, Devtalk is the place.
