Owl on Ice

High stress job situation and painting for workshops left me rather exhausted. I still wanted to paint but not in the mood of my still-ongoing black pad (just a liiiiiiitle bit more left) and maybe kinda bored with paper in general, so I turned to a set of blank acrylic keychains I bought for something else which didn't fit.

Well, that was fun?

As you might guess, the first time result was pretty janky. My friend seemed to like it though, so I gave it to her as a homecoming gift of sorts. It was rather addicting, doing these faux stained glass images. Immediately, I thought of doing stacked acrylic blocks for my favorite MtG commanders, but from a quick search all the custom acrylic sheet providers near me could only cut as small as 10cm x 10cm. Two snap cases glued together might work but not cost effective. Oh well, idea shelved for now. I don't fancy doing the cutting myself as I don't want to end up with a batch of new tools I might or might not use again (this is, afterall, merely a detour from my usual paper works). I do plan to get my hands on some sheets eventually, maybe make an A5 lightbox-thing to adorn my bedside table.

I've done everything with acrylic markers and never got tempted to get real real acrylic paints before as it doesn't fit my requirements (the wet palette needs routine maintenance, it cannot be reactivated once dried on the palette, more involved brush cleaning, etc etc happy to use it outside when I could get my hands on them, but not at home, no) but for a moment I flirted with the idea. Didn't entertain it, of course, as I think for my current studio situation I have everything I need. Maybe one day, if I have better space (both physically and spare time-wise).

Working with different materials is refreshing. I suppose that's why people just end up with so many unused supplies. All good intentions, you know?

We traded papers in the workshops, so I ended up with loose papers of different makes. There's a reason I prefer bound books. I'll have to summon the energy to compile these into a folder. My old high school folders still have plenty of space left, but I'll have to do some serious organization work if I want to keep these separate from the old stuff. Or maybe I should just dump everything together and leave this to Future Requ. We'll see. Initially, I didn't intend to keep the workshop results as they were more or less scratch pads in my eyes? Until the last two days where I got pictures I really liked. The instructors were pretty adamant I kept them, because "progress" (though I highly suspect they were the slightest bit dismayed I left my stacks in the shop for them to dispose).

So sleepy. Tired all the time. Air outside is suffocating.

I really hope it'll rain soon.
