Playful Thinking Series is Playful
(this is so short I'm not sure I should tag this as a review)
I just finished The Art of Failure by Jasper Juul and Uncertainty in Games by Greg Costikyan recently and I'm looking forward to delve into the rest of the Playful Thinking series.
The Art of Failure has some interesting points, though personally I enjoyed Juul's Handmade Pixels more. Costikyan's Uncertainty in Games however, will make you forget just how short the book is. It's packed with a lot of good observations and food for thoughts, I just kept taking notes. These two books also didn't read like academic books at all, if that sort of thing bothers you.
My only gripe here? The books are so short I wish they got more pages to flesh things out, but as informative-but-easy digest books I keep on my nightstand for bedtime reading, they're great.
